White Rose DTP ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowships

The White Rose Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP) offers several Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Postdoctoral Fellowships on an annual basis.

The 2024 scheme is now open for applications.

The scheme aims to provide a career development opportunity for those in the immediate postdoctoral stage of their career and the opportunity to consolidate their PhD through developing publications, their networks and their research and professional skills.

The White Rose Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (WRDTP) offered 7 ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowships in 2023, as a guide for the 2024 scheme. Fellowships are one year full-time, or two years part-time.

Full details of the 2024 scheme, plus how to apply, can be found on the relevant White Rose ERSC Postdoctoral Fellowships page.

Please note that the application process is in two stages:

  • Expression of Interest (EoI) – deadline 5pm Friday 22 March 2024
  • Full proposal (invitation only) – deadline 4pm Thursday 16 May 2024.

The School of Languages, Cultures and Societies is accredited on all seven of the WRDTP Pathways.

How to apply

  • Make sure you meet the eligibility criteria for the scheme.
  • Find a mentor. This can be done at any stage before the scheme opens. We encourage getting in touch at the earliest opportunity so that you can finalise your project in conjunction with your mentor. If you do not have a mentor in mind, please see our research pages, staff profiles and searchable mentor lists and make contact directly with relevant colleagues. Alternatively, contact LCSResearch@leeds.ac.uk and we will put you in touch with some potential mentors. Your mentor will give you informal/ongoing peer review on draft project proposals and other required documents at all stages.
  • Notify LCSResearch@leeds.ac.uk as soon as possible of your intention to submit, in advance of the deadline for the Expressions of Interest (EoI). We can offer peer review on applications provided drafts are submitted to us with at least two weeks' notice (and by prior arrangement). Please note that potential applicants will need to pass an internal assessment before the School will confirm whether their application to this scheme will be supported. Potential applicants should submit a CV and detailed project proposal to LCSResearch@leeds.ac.uk for consideration.
  • Complete and submit the EoI and other materials by the relevant deadline (see the White Rose ERSC Postdoctoral Fellowships page for full guidance and the template documents).
