LCS internal process: historic 2025 advice for applicants
Please note that LCS operates a rigorous peer review system for these applications. You are strongly encouraged to get in touch with us at the earliest possible opportunity so that we can help you shape your research project.
Please note that potential applicants will need to pass an internal assessment before the School will confirm whether their application to this scheme will be supported. Potential applicants should submit a CV and detailed project proposal to LCSResearch@leeds.ac.uk for consideration.
Applications are submitted jointly by the researcher and the UK academic supervisor. You must make contact with your potential mentor well in advance of the internal deadline (and at least 6–8 weeks before) and notify LCSResearch@leeds.ac.uk as soon as possible to declare your intention to apply.
If you do not have a mentor in mind, please see our research pages, staff profiles and searchable mentor lists and feel free to make contact directly with relevant colleagues.
2025 Deadlines
Please note that the University’s internal deadline for this scheme will be at least two weeks before the funder deadline, which is 10 September 2025. Late applications will not be accepted.
Applications must be received at least six weeks (30 July 25) before the external deadline if you wish to receive peer review on your complete draft application (though earlier submission is strongly encouraged, particularly considering staff annual leave over the summer period). We will return feedback within 7–14 days of receipt.
