Impact and engagement

The Hercules Project worked with the composer Tim Benjamin on the oratorio Herakles, premiered at Todmorden Town Hall in April 2017. Later in the year (November) an LCS-organised conference celebrating the 80th birthday of poet and playwright Tony Harrison culminated in a staged reading of his Labourers of Herakles by colleagues and students from the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, the first performance since its original production at Delphi in 1995.

In 2012-13 LCS research supported the exhibition Cao Yu: Pioneer of Modern Chinese Drama with events in London, Leeds, Edinburgh and Newcastle.  Earlier, the joint research project with La Trobe University, Melbourne, Shakespeare on the Chinese Stage 1979-1989, produced a multi-media package which is now included in Stanford University 's programme: Shakespeare in Asia.
