As an interdisciplinary unit, Arabic, Islamic and Middle Eastern Studies has a rich and diverse research culture, with colleagues working on a wide range of projects in Arabic linguistics, translation studies, Gender studies, Islamic Studies/Critical Muslim Studies, Middle East history and politics and Arab media.
