Agostino Ferrente and Giovanni Piperno

Agostino Ferrente (Cerignola, Italy, 1971) produced and directed the two shorts Poco più della metà di zero (1993) and Opinioni di un pirla (1994). In 1997, together with Giovanni Piperno, he made Intervista a mia madre (1999) and Il film di Mario (1999-2001). In 2001, he was one of the ten or so founders of the Apolloundici group with which he created the Piazza Vittorio orchestra - which featured in the 2006 award-winning documentary by the same name. Collaborating with Mariangela Barbanente, he conceived the OPV i Diari del ritorno project, which first two pilot episodes were directed by Alessandro Rossetto and Leonardo Di Costanzo. With Andrea Satta and Têtes de Bois, he made the Alfonsina e la bici video clip, featuring Margherita Hack. Le cose belle (2013) won 25 national and international awards, including the best Italian documentary 2013 at DOC/IT Professional Award and the Nastro d’argento Special Prize Best Docufilm. Agostino Ferrente also took, with Giovanni Piperno, the prize for the best school Biografilm retrospective at the Biografilm Festival in 2014.

Giovanni Piperno (Rome, Italy, 1964) after collaborating with Terry Gilliam, Martin Scorsese, Nanni Moretti, Giuseppe Rotunno, Dante Spinotti, Giuseppe Lanci, John Seale, Janusz Kaminski, Roger Deakins, as an assistant camera operator, directed numerous documentaries among which Intervista a mia madre and Il film di Mario (together with Agostino Ferrente) and L'esplosione, which won the Torino Film Festival in 2003. While CIMAP! centoitalianimattiapechino was entered into the Locarno Festival in 2008 and the following year won the Libero Bizzarri award. In 2010, Il pezzo mancante, was given the Cinema Doc prize at the Turin Festival. Le cose belle (2013) won 25 national and international awards, including the best Italian documentary 2013 at DOC/IT Professional Award and the Nastro d’argento Special Prize Best Docufilm. With the collective film 9x10 Novanta produced by Istituto Luce for its ninety years old anniversary, Piperno participated in the 'Venice Days' at the Venice Film Festival 2014. In the same year he collaborated with Antonietta De Lillo to the film documentary Let's go presented at the Turin Festival 2014.
