Description
Primary investigator originally Dr Katie Edwards, formerly of the University of Sheffield.
The project focuses first, on exposing the connections between rape culture phenomena and biblical texts and second, on resisting the harm and violence that arises from these connections.
The project emphasises the presence and influence of the Bible in popular culture.

- We have developed a toolkit (edited by Emily Colgan and Caroline Blyth) that facilitates identification and prevention as well as survivor support for victims of sexual and gender-based abuse in church settings
- We have commissioned and disseminated graphic art by Pia Alize to publicise gender-based sexualised violence in the Bible.
- We have commissioned and disseminated posters created during the Covid pandemic for International Women’s Day 2021 to campaign against violence .

- Activism in the Biblical Studies Classroom: Global Perspectives, a special issue of the journal JIBS (Journal of Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies), guest edited and with an introduction by Johanna Stiebert (open access)
Johanna Stiebert is co-editor of the Routledge Focus series ‘Rape Culture, Religion and the Bible’. In this series three volumes by project leads and partners have appeared so far:
