There is a growing recognition of the disparity between policymaking processes and academic research, compounded by a lack of understanding about policy formation and limited engagement with policy interventions.
The 'Co-producing Cultural Policy' project identified and addressed two skills gaps: developing cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange among postgraduates and early career researchers, practitioners and policymakers, and exploring approaches to co-producing cultural policy and framing research in response to policy challenges.
The project team coordinated workshops at the Universities of Leeds and Warwick on the theme of participation and cultural policy decision-making, and on the issue of cultural value in relation to debates around impact.
