Medieval and Early Modern Seminar

People sitting and reading medieval books

The Medieval and Early Modern seminar series is a long-standing series which brings together a large number of researchers within the School of English and attracts participants from other Schools in the Faculty, especially History, Classics, and History of Art.

With a mix of external and internal speakers, the seminar allows us to share new research and gain feedback on work in progress. We use a variety of formats and the emphasis is on providing a convivial and supportive environment.

We encourage final-year undergraduate, MA, and PhD students to attend, while PhD students working in the medieval and early modern periods are invited to give at least one paper in the course of their degree.

This series is led by Martin Butler and Jane Rickard but all regular members of the group contribute to shaping the programme.
