How do you think your experience of researching will help you in your career and what advice would you give to anyone considering doing a PhD at the School of Media and Communication?
At this stage, I have yet to make up my mind on a potential career move following the completion of my PhD. With that being said, the skills that I’m developing in field research and academic writing will certainly serve me well and open up a number of exciting options going forward.
The most important thing is to choose a research topic that genuinely excites you. This will be your life for the next three years; you have to be passionate about it. Look into which members of staff have knowledge in the area you intend to research and send them an email briefly outlining your idea – go from there!
As an institution, I couldn’t recommend the University of Leeds more highly. While I am still very much at the start of what is to be a long journey, undertaking a PhD at the School of Media and Communication is one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made.
