What made you want to apply to your course and to Leeds?

I knew I wanted to study fashion but wanted a degree that pushed me creatively and academically. I chose to apply to Leeds because if offered the opportunity to take an industrial placement. I also visited the University on an open day and fell in love with the campus. I liked how compact everything was and found all the students and staff very friendly.

What is it that makes you passionate about your area of study?

Fashion is constantly changing so I am always on my toes when researching and creating. I love that there is always room for me to inject my own personality to my work.

What aspects of the course did you enjoy the most?

My industrial placement was a crucial part of my learning. Experiencing fashion marketing first hand I was able to put what I had learned in first and second year into practice. The placement was also a huge part of my personal journey as it prepared me for independent study in fourth year. I loved the choice of modules – being able to cater the course to your own interests allows you to get more out of your time here.

What would you say to anyone thinking of applying to your course?

Anyone who has a creative mind-set but doesn’t want to take a practical course should consider fashion marketing. This course opens up so many options regarding career paths with is amazing so you don’t need to have a job role in mind when starting out, but a sting interest in the Fashion industry is a must!

What do you plan to do now you’ve finished your course, and how do you think the skills and knowledge you’ve developed at Leeds will help with these plans?

This course has prepared me to go into job interviews with a body of work that shows my skills and my enthusiasm for what I do, as well as confidence in my own ability. The University really help you with applications, CVs and preparing you for real life experiences in the workplace. Staff don’t treat you like students but like colleagues and this has been crucial in making me feel confident upon leaving this summer.
