Pedagogic Research

Research student at DJ deck in the School of Music

We pursue research which seeks to advance understanding of teaching and learning processes, experiences and contexts in music, and which encourages staff to reflect, develop and improve their teaching practice.

This includes approaches to teaching and learning such as self-study or action research involving critical reflection and reflexivity on current practice, mapping what is more (or less) effective, making evidenced-based recommendations and disseminating good practice.

More specific areas of study include the use of flipped and blended learning approaches and implementation of professional practice, the impact of teaching spaces and technologies, and factors shaping students’ sense of belonging within interactive pedagogical environments.
