Two Leeds Students Participate in Prestigious Catalan-English Literary Translation Seminar

The seminar, organised by the Institut Ramon Llull, focused on the unique aspects of translating literature from Catalan to English.

Two students of Catalan from the University of Leeds were among a select group chosen to take part in an intensive literary translation seminar held at the University of Liverpool on the 2nd and 3rd of June 2025. The seminar, organised by the Institut Ramon Llull, focused on the unique aspects of translating literature from Catalan to English.

The event provided a unique opportunity for students and recent alumni of Catalan studies from universities across the UK and Ireland to gain both practical and theoretical training in the field of literary translation. The sessions were taught in Catalan and English.

To participate, the students had to complete an application, which included the translation of a literary text from Catalan into English. The seminar was free and included two days of sessions and one night in Liverpool.
