A Journey into the Origins of Catalan led by David Pastor i Batxellí
The session on the origins and historical development of the Catalan language was part of the academic and cultural programme supported by the Institut Ramon Llull at the University of Leeds.
On 6 November, students of Catalan II and Catalan III took part in a dissemination session led by researcher David Pastor i Batxellí, titled ‘Viatge als orígens de la llengua catalana’ (‘A Journey into the Origins of the Catalan Language’). The session, entirely in Catalan, introduced students to key aspects of the historical development of the language, tracing its roots, early documentation, and linguistic evolution. Through an engaging and interactive session, Pastor i Batxellí offered participants a clearer understanding of how Catalan emerged and consolidated as a Romance language.
The activity was part of the programme of academic and cultural initiatives supported by the Institut Ramon Llull, aimed at enriching the study of Catalan language at the University of Leeds.
