Study abroad

All undergraduate courses in our School offer you the opportunity to study abroad for a year as part of your degree. The BMus Music Performance degree includes a compulsory year abroad, where you will spend the third year of your degree studying in a conservatoire or music college environment at one of our partner institutions outside the UK.

Spending time studying in another country can be a rewarding and life-changing experience, giving you a unique opportunity to discover different cultures and learn about the music of other nations. The personal resilience, independence and cultural awareness you'll demonstrate can also enhance your career prospects, with overseas study highly regarded by employers.

The University offers one of the widest ranges of study abroad opportunities in the UK with more than 300 partnerships with universities worldwide. You'll be fully supported throughout the year abroad process, from preparation to departure, as well as during your time overseas and on your return to the UK.

Taking a study abroad year will extend your degree to four years. Other opportunities to experience study and life abroad as part of your degree include our subsidised and non-subsidised summer schools
