Colonel (ret.) Klaus Wolf presents a paper for the War Studies and Politics, Diplomacy and International History research groups in the School of History.
About the paper
The role of a military attaché is multifaceted, encompassing not only advising the ambassador on all military matters, reporting back to the capital, and representing interests in defense-related issues but also preparing and supporting high-level visits. The most critical prerequisite for effectively fulfilling these duties is comprehensive networking and in-depth knowledge of the host country. In his presentation, Wolf will elucidate these tasks through various examples and experiences while simultaneously providing profound insights into the military structures and power dynamics in Pakistan. During these periods, Pakistan was rocked by a multitude of internal and external crises, in which the Pakistani military was almost invariably involved.
