Why did you choose to study your degree at the University of Leeds?

The University of Leeds comes under some of the top universities. To be able to study at a Russell Group University is a dream come true.

The multicultural environment and the international approach to teaching students helps me to broaden my horizons and ensure that my dreams come true.

What opportunities have you taken advantage of while studying here so far?

There are a lot of opportunities – the Skills@Library workshops, the Leeds University Union, the student exchange programs and the summer internships, to name a few.

The regular workshops to assist students with their studies, along with the support provided by the student bodies, has really helped me academically.

The University also helps to find internships/jobs and to support students with their CVs, which is something every student should look out for.

What skills have you gained so far?

I have acquired some major skills so far. I have learned relationship building, improved my communication skills, and critical thinking skills.

I have also developed time management skills in a more efficient way and have also learned better ways to manage workload using technology.

Have you worked closely with a particular tutor or member of staff?

I have worked closely with two tutors. Both have been constantly supportive. Their positive outlook and critical enquiry have helped me a lot in my academic study and otherwise.

What advice would you give to someone who is considering studying an MA in English Literature?

The degree I am studying has helped me to look at contemporary literature from a wider perspective. It has diversified my thinking, which is a necessity for literature students.

Along with academic expertise in the School, this degree provides you with a multidisciplinary approach to look at things. It helps you with extra-curricular activities as well. Hence, it is something which students might want to consider, given the wide range of opportunities that one can enjoy.

Tell us about one of your favourite places in Leeds

One of my favourite places in Leeds is the area near the Leeds Museum in the city centre. The museum is a treat to the eyes, surrounded by an open space. It is at the heart of the city, which makes it a favourite spot for anyone.
