Dr Sarah Hudspith

Dr Sarah Hudspith

Profile

I joined the University of Leeds as a Lecturer in September 2000 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2014.

I wrote my thesis on Dostoevsky and Slavophilism at the University of Sheffield and was awarded my PhD in 2000.

Research interests

My main area of research is in 19th Century Russian literature, especially Dostoevsky and Tolstoy. I am Co-Director of the Centre for World Literatures, and my interest in world literatures relates to canon formation, especially in relation to national identities, and theories of cultural globality and globalisation. In terms of literary study more broadly, I work on narrative, especially first-person narrative and memory; gender and women's writing. I have also published on contemporary Russian literature.

I am available to supervise students in any area related to my research interests, especially Dostoevsky and Tolstoy.
