British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships in the School of Philosophy, Religion, and History of Science at Leeds

The School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science (PRHS) at the University of Leeds encourages expressions of interest from researchers in having a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship hosted by the School.

PRHS is a vibrant and exciting intellectual community comprising roughly 60 permanent academic staff, and numerous graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting researchers. Applicants with accepted expressions of interest will receive significant guidance during September using our successful model for applications and focused support for grant application development.

Eligibility

Early career (doctoral degree awarded between 1 April 2021 and 1 April 2024) British citizens and EEA nationals, regardless of where they obtained their doctoral degree, and early career researchers of any nationality with a doctorate from a UK university. For your project to be hosted by PRHS, your research must be in philosophy, history and philosophy of science, or theology and religious studies.

Please note that we typically expect candidates who wish to apply for a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship with us in February to also apply for a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship with us the previous October.

Deadlines

Expressions of interest in having a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship hosted at Leeds should be submitted by emailing Heather Logue at h.a.logue@leeds.ac.uk no later than 12noon (UK time) on Friday 18 August 2023 with (1) a statement of eligibility, (2) a detailed CV, and (3) a proposal of no more than 2 pages outlining the planned research programme (explaining its scholarly importance and originality) and indicating at least one member of PRHS staff as a potential mentor.
