'Thinking Global' proves a great success

The second Year Abroad Conference was well attended with speakers and participants from a range of international and UK based institutions.

On 13 September, the University of Leeds’ School of Languages, Cultures and Societies and Leeds Institute for Teaching Excellence hosted the second Year Abroad Conference ‘Thinking Global’.

The event provided a platform for insights into student experiences during Year Abroad, and covered how to boost longer-term employability opportunities, and how to prepare students for new horizons in Europe and beyond.

Thanks go to the keynote speaker, Professor Ros Mitchell (University of Southampton) for the informative presentation and discussion, and to Professor Manuel Barcia (Faculty Dean of International Affairs) and Professor Emma Cayley (Head of the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies) at the University of Leeds for their kind support and presence at the event.

We also extend our thanks to our wonderful colleagues in the organising committee: Clare Wright, Ruba Khamam, Juan Munoz-Lopez, Ying Ping, Kazuki Morimoto and Melissa Schuessler for the meticulous organisation of what proved to be a very successful conference.
