Three new members of staff in Linguistics and Phonetics

Linguistics and Phonetics is pleased to welcome three new members to the team.

Gisela Tomé Lourido joins us as Lecturer in Sociophonetics from University College London, where she completed her PhD in the use of social information in speech perception and speech production, focusing on the bilingual community of Galicia.

Valentina Brunetto returns to Leeds after completing her PhD in the acquisition of Italian syntax in 2012. She joins us as Teaching Fellow in English Language and Syntax from the University of Manchester.

Robert Lennon joins us as Research Fellow from the University of Glasgow on a three year Leverhulme-funded project awarded to Leendert Plug. Together with Rachel Smith (Glasgow), they will be investigating how listeners perceive tempo and missing sounds in speech.
