A workshop exploring best practice in working with heritage organisations, featuring Professor Jane Hamlett, Royal Holloway University of London.
This workshop will explore how academics can fruitfully collaborate with different types of heritage organisations, using Professor Hamlett’s experiences as a starting point. All are welcome, whether you’ve collaborated with heritage organisations or not.
Jane Hamlett is a Professor of Modern British History at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research interests focus on material and visual culture in modern Britain and the home, family and domestic life. With Professor Julie Marie Strange (Durham University) she recently led the AHRC-funded Pets and Family Life Project, and the book they wrote together, Pet Revolution: The Making of Animals in Modern British Life, was published by Reaktion in 2023. Professor Hamlett will also present the Katrina Honeyman Memorial Lecture for the School of History, with the title ‘Purr-fect Pets: The Rise of Pet Cats in Modern Britain’. This is the first in a series of workshops focusing on collaboration. On 5th March, a workshop will focus on working with museums and archives, and in April (date tbc) a further workshop will address relationships with community arts organisations.
