Broaden your perspective
Gain an additional qualification in ethics as part of your undergraduate degree.
Intercalation
Intercalation
Intercalation gives you the chance to study a different subject for a year as part of your undergraduate degree. This is a great opportunity to explore a new subject area, broaden your skill set, and improve your employability before you graduate.
Our intercalation courses equip you to analyse and respond to the complex ethical dilemmas presented by working in areas like healthcare, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and other related fields.
You'll be taught alongside non-intercalation students, allowing you to benefit from a variety of perspectives including those of professionals facing the issues you’ll study in their working lives.
Application process
We welcome applications from students both within the University of Leeds and from other institutions.
You’ll usually have the opportunity to intercalate if you’re studying medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, or another related subject.
The Faculty of Medicine and Health handle all applications.
Careers and employability
Intercalating is a great way to enhance your employable skills. An additional degree is also an advantage in many career paths, and is worth extra points in applications to the NHS Foundation Programme.
You’ll also have access to careers support from the Careers Centre, Leeds for Life, Leeds University Union, and Student Enterprise.
