Mr Mathew Hunter

I completed my BA (Hons) at Edge Hill University in 2021, discovering an interest in Gender and Animal studies, and completing research projects on Animals and Evolutionary Anxiety in Victorian Gothic Fiction and the Female Gothic in the Poetry of Slyvia Plath.

During my undergraduate degree I completed a semester abroad at the University of the Fraser Valley in British Colombia, Canada, undertaking research on post-colonial theory and modern Indigenous literature, as well as early to late medieval literature.

I am currently studying a MA by Research degree at the University of Leeds, focusing on Masculinity and Meat Eating in late 20th century British Literature through Vegan and Animal Studies, and the wider context of animal ethics, and zoological crisis.
