Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures ranks in world top 60

The Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures at Leeds has been ranked 60th in the world by the QS World Rankings by Subject 2017.

The QS World Rankings are published annually, and use global surveys of academics, graduate employers, and research expertise to rank the world's leading educational institutions for their performance overall, in five broad subject areas, and in 36 specific subjects.

Our Faculty has achieved 60th place in the Arts and Humanities subject area, and ranks within the top 150 for the specific subjects we offer that are included in the rankings. Particular congratulations go to the School of English, as this subject achieved the highest individual ranking of 40th place.

This success is welcome news for our Faculty, which pursues both academic excellence and innovation through initiatives like our BA Liberal Arts course and our work with the Cultural Institute. The University of Leeds as a whole currently ranks in the top 100 overall and the top 60 for graduate employability.

Professor Frank Finlay, Executive Dean of the Faculty, said of the news: "This achievement is testament to the superb quality of teaching and research by my colleagues. While rankings and league tables are among the many things taken into account when prospective students and staff are choosing where to study and work, it is pleasing to earn recognition for excellence at Leeds in this way."
