Leeds MA interpreting students win prizes in international interpreting competition
Leeds MA interpreting students won the second prize as a team and the third prize for individuals in the 11th International Translation and Interpreting Competition.
Congratulations to Yongfeng Zhu (祝涌峰) and Yuan Mang (莽嫄), students of Leeds MA Conference Interpreting and Translation Studies (MACITS), for their outstanding achievements in the 11th International Translation and Interpreting Competition held on 13 May 2023. They won the second prize as a team in Chinese/English simultaneous interpreting. Yuan Mang received the third prize in the individual category.
The competition was organised by Beijing Languages and Cultures University and supported by the International Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters (CIUTI), the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC) and the Translators Association of China (TAC).
22 teams with 44 contestants from 12 prestigious universities with interpreting and translation programmes (including seven CIUTI members) around the world were screened to the grand final of the Chinese/English bi-directional simultaneous interpreting contest. Yongfeng Zhu and Yuan Mang's team representing the University of Leeds was selected as one of the 22 teams to compete in the grand final.
