About the workshop
Please join us for a workshop seminar on International Oral History Research Methods featuring Dr Maya Nguyen (SOAS University of London). During this event she will share her approach to conducting extensive oral history research interviewing former child soldiers during conflicts in twentieth century Southeast Asia. This event is ideal for anyone who has conducted or is planning to conduct oral history research, especially PGRs and ECRs interested in learning more about the process of effective and ethical interview-based historical scholarship.
About the speaker
Dr Maya Nguyen is a Lecturer in International Relations at SOAS University of London. She is the author of Small Revolutionaries: Participation of Children and Youth in the Vietnam War (Cornell University Press, 2025). Her primary research interest lies in examining the 'kindred' perspective of global politics, and particularly issues of (in)security. Her current research, which is based on life history interviews and archival research, explores the role of children and youth in the Southeast Asian military conflicts in the second half of 20th century.
