Professor Duncan Wheeler publishes article on Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant

Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant, now 75, recently performed a sold-out, intimate gig at St George’s Hall in Bradford. Professor Wheeler discusses the difference between Plant’s approach (what he describes as ‘pensioner rock’), when compared with the likes of other ageing bands such as Kiss and Mötley Crüe. 

Professor Wheeler goes on to ask whether intimate gigs are a better experience for both audience and performer, with Plant himself describing smaller gigs as being ‘what real live music is about, not silly festivals’.

Plant’s stance as a multimillionaire pensioner is radical, embracing his age but refusing to go gentle into that good night.
