Postgraduate Researcher Elizabeth French wins British Music Society Essay Competition
Elizabeth won the British Music Society Essay Competition with her essay ‘Francis Edward Bache and his Three Impromptus for Piano’.
The essay on Bache stood out against some very strong entries and Elizabeth will see her essay published in a future edition of British Music, which over the years has included many of the major writers on British music, as well as composers. She will also receive a cash prize.
This is the second time the prize has been awarded, designed to ‘stimulate an increase in musicological engagement within the field of British Music in the Western Classical Tradition’ and to ‘widen the pool of contributors’ to the Society’s journal, British Music.
Well done Elizabeth!
