Bellow Blows Hot
Current MA Writing for Performance and Publication student Maureen Lennon has been enjoying success in Hull and around the country with her company, Bellow Theatre.
Bellow is reaching the end of its first year on the Hull Truck Supported Artist scheme. Its most recent show, Bare Skin on Briny Waters, written by Maureen and Tabitha Mortiboy, was commissioned for the HeadsUp Festival in conjunction with BAC (Battersea Arts Centre).
The show weaves together the stories of two young women whose tales of survival and escape echo between them, and fuses storytelling with live original music.
Lyn Gardner of The Guardian termed it ‘gently poetic salt-tinged storytelling’.
It went to New Diorama in Hull in February as part of their City of Culture showcase, and has been selected as one of the shows for Incoming Festival in June. The show will go to the Edinburgh Fringe this summer and an autumn tour is being planned.
