Leeds invited to present its translation and interpreting programmes to CIUTI General Assembly
Binhua Wang presented in the Conférence Internationale Permanente d’Instituts Universitaires pour la formation de Traducteurs et Interprètes.
In the General Assembly of the Conférence Internationale Permanente d’Instituts Universitaires pour la formation de Traducteurs et Interprètes (CIUTI) held on 09 December, Professor Binhua Wang, director of the Centre for Translation Studies, was invited to present about the University of Leeds translation and interpreting programmes.
Representatives of over 50 member universities from different countries with top programmes in translation and interpreting attended the general assembly of CIUTI, an international organisation established in 1964 dedicated to excellence in research and training in translation and interpreting.
Binhua presented a comprehensive overview of the Centre for Translation Studies as well as the four postgraduate translation and interpreting programmes at Leeds, including MA/PGDip in Applied Translation Studies, MA Audiovisual Translation Studies, MA/PGDip in Conference Interpreting and MA /PGDip in Business and Public Service Interpreting. He highlighted the features and strengths of the Leeds programmes in translation and in interpreting.
The University of Leeds applied to CIUTI and was accepted as one of the two new members in 2019. The CIUTI membership is another seal of Leeds CTS dedication to excellence in translation and interpreting education, along with membership in the European Masters in Translation (EMT), as partner university of DG Interpretation (DG LINC) of the European Parliament and DG SCIC of the European Commission and our MA/PGDip Conference Interpreting programme listed in the AIIC Interpreting Schools and Programmes Directory.
