Interdisciplinary research network spanning the arts, health and science open to new members

The Network is dedicated to reshaping the way ageing is understood and experienced

The Reimagine Ageing Network, a pioneering interdisciplinary research initiative at the University of Leeds, is inviting new members to join its growing community.

Established in October 2023 with support from the Horizons Institute, the Network is dedicated to reshaping the way ageing is understood and experienced, blending insights from fields like healthcare, technology, and the arts to drive transformative research.

The Network’s three co-leads— Associate Professor Maria Kapsali from the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, Professor Sarah Astill from the School of Biomedical Sciences & Professor Anne Forster from the School of Medicine —bring a unique, multi-faculty approach to ageing-related research.

The Network has already made significant strides, with a membership base of 150, including academics from regional universities, community organisations, and national partners.

With support from a Steering Group, including Professor Yannis Delis, and an Advisory Group, Reimagine Ageing has secured funding for a Doctoral Research Programme from the Dunhill Medical Trust, consolidating its commitment to age-related research.

In its first year, the Network hosted eight interdisciplinary events attended by over 300 participants. Topics ranged from improving older adult engagement in research to utilizing data science for enhanced wellbeing.

The Reimagine Ageing Network is now calling on researchers, clinicians, and community members interested in reducing inequalities in later life to join. Email reimaginingageing@leeds.ac.uk and follow the Network on LinkedIn and X, with opportunities to engage directly or become a network partner. For those eager to contribute to the future of ageing research, this is an open invitation to help redefine what it means to age well.
