2,763 Medievalists Attend IMC 2025
Thousands of medievalists flocked to campus for the International Medieval Congress (IMC) to discuss this year's special thematic focus 'Worlds of Learning'.
Between Monday 07 July and Thursday 10 July, 2,763 medievalists from 58 countries came together for the International Medieval Congress at the University of Leeds for four days of academic discussion on interdisciplinary topics with a rooted foundation of medieval studies at its core.
The IMC is uniquely positioned as one of the world’s largest fully-hybrid academic gatherings in the humanities, with every session supporting virtual participation, producing over 700 session recordings which will be available for registered delegates to view on the virtual platform until 20 September 2025.
The August edition of the IMC Newsletter contains a rundown of the IMC 2025 academic programme with a summary of the IMC fairs, events and excursions, social media, and the ever-popular Making Leeds Medieval. It can be viewed on the newsletter section of the IMC website.
Plans for IMC 2026 are already underway, and the IMC is very pleased to welcome Nada Zečević (Filozofski fakultet, Sveučilište u Zagrebu) to the Programming Committee as the coordinator for the 2026 special thematic strand ‘Temporalities’. The IMC team are delighted to see proposals coming in and academics promoting their Calls for Papers online. You’re also welcome to apply to our individual papers programme, which will then be reviewed and grouped into sessions by the Programming Committee.
