Annika Mombauer’s new book on the debate on the origins of the First World War surveys more than 100 years of a heated blame game in which historians and politicians on all sides became embroiled in a war of documents and publications. In this talk, she will highlight aspects of this highly emotive controversy and explore why, despite the passing of more than a hundred years, the topic continues to divide opinion.

Annika Mombauer is Professor of Modern European History at the Open University and a contributor to the long debate on the origins of the First World War.
