Profile
I have a DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford and completed my undergraduate degree at the International Christian University in Japan.
Research interests
My research interests are in Japanese Politics, Japanese Diplomacy in the 1950s, and the discourse regarding Japan’s International Relations. WIthin that I am interested in the history of Japanese development assistance and its relevance to the principles of Japan’s Official Development Assistance. The roles of the economic ministries and the Japanese private sector in Japan’s’economic cooperation’ informs my research interest in the evolution of Japanese ODA.
My current research is on Japanese development assistance to Africa in the context of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD). I am also investigating the roles of the Ministry of International Trade and Industries (MITI) and the Japanese private sector in arrangements for economic cooperation between the Government of Japan and the Government of Ghana in the early 1960s.
