Launch of the Aromanticism and Asexuality Research Network
A new research network exploring aromanticism and asexuality has been launched within the Centre for Love, Sex, and Relationships (CLSR) at the University of Leeds
The Aromanticism and Asexuality Research Network (Aro/Ace Research Network), organised by CLSR postgraduate researcher Kristin Kauper, brings together scholars from across disciplines who are working on asexuality (experiencing little to no sexual attraction) and aromanticism (experiencing little to no romantic attraction).
By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, the network aims to expand understanding of diverse experiences of attraction, love, and intimacy. It seeks to support and raise the visibility of scholarship on asexuality, encourage much-needed research on aromanticism, and create a collaborative and supportive academic community.
Kristin said:
Exploring these topics not only helps us to better understand the experiences of asexual and aromantic people, but also has wider implications for how we think about identity, love, sexuality, and relationships.
The network currently connects researchers across Europe and will host regular online events, alongside an in-person workshop at the University of Leeds in 2026.
Further information about the network, its members, and upcoming activities can be found at aroaceresearch.com and on Instagram @aroaceresearch. You can also sign up for the network’s newsletter via the website.
