School celebrates ranking in top 100 places globally to study philosophy, theology and religious studies

The University of Leeds’ School of Philosophy, Religion & History of Science has secured a place in the top 100 places in the world for study and research in Philosophy, Theology and Religious studies, according to the globally-respected 2024 QS World University Rankings by Subject

The annual QS rankings draw on five key indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, the H-index (a way of measuring the productivity and impact of an academic or department at a university), and international research network.

According to these criteria, the School of Philosophy, Religion & History of Science is the 44th best place in the world to study Philosophy, and in the top 100 for Theology and Religious Studies.

The subjects housed in the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science probe fundamental questions about the world and our place in it, and our different disciplinary perspectives on these questions inform and enhance each other. The result is a truly world-class teaching and research community. It is gratifying to see this reflected in the QS University rankings.
