Dr Richard Rowland to join Philosophy

Dr Richard Rowland will join the School of Philosophy, Religion, and History of Science as a philosophy lecturer in February 2020.

The School of Philosophy, Religion, and History of Science is pleased to announce that Dr Richard Rowland will be joining the School as a lecturer starting in February 2020.

Rowland will join Leeds from the Australian Catholic University, where he is a Senior Research Fellow and the Director of the Philosophy Program. His research interests include ethics, metaethics, metaepistemology, and political philosophy. His work to date has ranged over moral error theoy, goodness and value, moral disagreement, and the relationship between epistemic and practical reasons and normativity.

He is the author of numerous journal articles and a monograph entitled The Evaluative and the Normative: The Buck-Passing Account of Value (Oxford University Press, 2019). In Leeds he will strengthen our teaching in moral and political philosophy and add to our research strengths in the Centre for Ethics and Metaethics.
