Profile

How can cultural productions advance equitable, earth-system governance? This question guides my academic research and practice. I address it using an interdisciplinary methodology that involves textual close reading; mapping communities of practice relative to ideas of a common good that inspire them, and the comparison of archives produced by these practitioners. My research is informed by my doctoral training in the earth sciences and the environmental humanities.

Research interests

Current research (Frankenstein Adaptations and Rights to Nature) and recent research projects (River Narratives of Change 1798-2010) analyse how theatre makers and literary writers address audiences as earth stewards, who might shape earth-system governance at scales ranging from the local to the international. My communications have addressed academics, sustainable-development practitioners, and the public. Some recent public-facing outputs are produced by the French storytelling association, Le Puits The Story Well.
