Dr Nina White

Profile

I joined University of Leeds in 2024 as Post-Doctoral Research Fellow on DCMS and AHRC funded project ‘Developing a taxonomy for culture and heritage capital,’ led by Historic England.

Prior to joining Leeds, I completed my PhD at Teesside University (2018-2023) with the thesis ‘The museum and the rhizome: A study of posthuman practice at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art’ which focused on applying posthuman philosophy to contemporary artistic and curatorial practice. While completing my PhD I worked in a variety of research roles in the charity and cultural sectors, nationally and in the North East of England.

Research interests

My research interests lie in the cross-overs between cultural policy, funding, and practice, with a focus on bringing the voice and experience of artists, cultural professionals and creative practitioners to policy and funding decisions. I am an advocate for embedding diversity, equity and inclusion practices in all aspects of research, and in making academic research more accessible and engaging for communities and publics.
