Research interests

Working closely with feminist theory and affect studies, my research examines ethical practices of reading in the humanities. More broadly, my research interests include decolonial feminism; postcolonial theory; visual culture; critical and cultural theory.

Research activities:

  • In January 2024, I received IGNITE funding for my project CoRe | Collective Reading, a collaboration with NHS charity Arts and Minds Network Leeds. This collaboration aims to create inclusive, community-based shared reading groups, exploring how literature nurtures human connection and enhances mental wellbeing. The project seeks to build a longstanding connection between Arts and Minds Network Leeds and the University of Leeds with a view to collaborating on future projects. 
  • In December 2023, I participated in a Global Executive Leadership Programme in Arts and Cultural Industries, delivering workshops to partners in the West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong. Theme: Cultural and Creative Industries Policy.
  • In 2023, I co-delivered the following workshop: “Embedding ‘digital’ to support organisational sustainability” Arts Marketing Association Symposium, British Museum. 
  • Contributing Researcher: “The Question of Digital: Building the Digital Capabilities of the Heritage Sector.” Funder: National Lottery Heritage Fund.
  • Founded the Feminist Encounters Reading Group, in the School of Performance & Cultural Industries.
