Research interests
Working at the intersection of feminist theory, affect and postcolonial studies, my research approaches reading as a mode of ethical response-ability. I explore how embodied reading transforms how we relate to texts and one another—reframing reading not as a passive intellectual exercise, but as a generative, civic practice that engenders ethical and political change.
Research activities:
- In January 2024, I received IGNITE funding for my project CoRe | Collective Reading, a collaboration with NHS charity Arts and Minds Network Leeds. This collaboration aims to create inclusive, community-based shared reading groups, exploring how literature nurtures human connection and enhances mental wellbeing. The project seeks to build a longstanding connection between Arts and Minds Network Leeds and the University of Leeds with a view to collaborating on future projects.
- In December 2023, I participated in a Global Executive Leadership Programme in Arts and Cultural Industries, delivering workshops to partners in the West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong. Theme: Cultural and Creative Industries Policy.
- In 2023, I co-delivered the following workshop: “Embedding ‘digital’ to support organisational sustainability” Arts Marketing Association Symposium, British Museum.
