Alison Andrews

Profile

I have a background in theatre and performance with a particular interest in sit- specfic work, creating pieces with people where they live, work and study. After studying studied at the Workshop Theatre in Leeds I was part of a co-operative, touring devised theatre nationally, before making solo work and teaching. I now focus on site-specific performance, through the Leeds based performing arts company A Quiet Word, an association of artists who have worked together since 1998, which includes story tellers, choreographers, musicians and magicians, making performance pieces with people in the places where they live, work and study.

I am a Fellow of the RSA and a Trustee of Pyramid of Arts, Leeds, a charity working with artists with and without a learning disability. I have taught at Leeds Beckett University and at Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Since 2011 I have taught across the Theatre and Performance programme in the School of Peformance and Cultural Industries at University of Leeds. I am currrently completing a practice based PhD in site-specific performance.
