Leeds Creative Labs: Masters Edition 2021

Ten postgraduate students, including three students from the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, have been collaborating with partners from a different academic discipline since early June.

Leeds Creative Labs aims to spark collaborations that inspire and challenge artists and researchers to explore, innovate and take risks to find new ways of working together.

This innovative, playful programme pairs creative professionals with researchers from across academic disciplines within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. Through Leeds Creative Labs, we provide funding, inspiration, opportunities and above all, the co-creative space to share ideas and experiences without deadlines and targets.

The collaborators are matched based not only on the areas of professional interest, but also on a shared sense of curiosity and ambition to embark on the unknown.

Three students from the School of Performance and Cultural Industries are involved in the creative labs; Georgie Hook, Liza Cox and Zihan Yuan. Each exploring their own creative and academic practice and building connections with a partner from a different academic discipline. Learn more about each partnership and the academic interests of the participants.

Contributors are not expected to respond to a specific brief, rather to enter into the experience on an equal footing, and have the rare opportunity to have unstructured space in which to explore and create ideas together without an agenda. With no expectation of an output, the process allows partners to establish the focus of their engagement with each other from the outset.

Join us on 4 August to enjoy the creative and playful collaborations between students within the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures. This event will take place both online and in-person. This event is a great opportunity for tutors to see interdisciplinary collaboration in action, and for postgraduate students to hear about a new method of creative enquiry. We hope to support and celebrate the achievements of the inaugural Leeds Creative Labs Masters cohort, and learn how we might continue to provide creative opportunities for students in the future.
