Celebrations for the retirement of Susan Daniels
Last week University staff joined together to celebrate the contribution Susan Daniels has made to the School, the Faculty and the University as a whole throughout her time as a University of Leeds staff member, in a career that spans nearly 30 years.
Susan was Head of School for 7 years, during her term she led the School through a transition from Bretton Hall College into the stage@leeds building, in the heart of the University of Leeds campus.
Colleagues will remember her incredible work ethic and attention to detail, her tireless dedication to the development of the good ship Performance and Cultural Industries, her support of colleagues, her ability to foster new partnerships and collaborations across the institution and beyond, her international work – particularly in China, and her unwavering commitment to the students were all recurring themes.
She is a great supporter of people, a great coach, a mentor and an advocate, not just of individuals but of the arts in general. She has campaigned tirelessly throughout her career for proper recognition of the importance of high quality arts education in primary, secondary, further and higher education. Providing excellent creative education and feeding that back into society is what PCI does best. This has always been Susan’s priority and, as a School, we will ensure we carry on this mission with the same determination going forward.
The School wishes Susan all the very best in her retirement.
