With 2,907 registered delegates, this year's IMC, with the special thematic strand of 'Memory', was a resounding success and stimulated important discussion among medievalists from around the world.

The IMS hosted the symposium 'The Future of Medieval Studies' at the University of Leeds which produced stimulating discussion about the future of the field.

Members of the IMS collaborated with the University of Poitiers from 7-10 June 2018 as part of a recent agreement between the IMS and CESCM, which offers teaching and research opportunities.

This year the IMS Medieval Group hosted seven well-attended and varied events, from a research afternoon to a candle workshop to visiting nearby medieval sites.

The University of Leeds conference 'Rethinking the Medieval Frontier', organised by Jonathan Jarrett and held on 10 April 2018, explored medieval frontiers and borders and was a great success.
