Profile
I obtained a Modern Foreign Languages degree at the Universidad de Málaga, where I also completed a PGCE in English, French and German. I worked for a few years as a secondary school teacher both in the UK and Spain and, then, I continued my postgraduate studies focusing on the use of emerging technologies in Spanish as a Foreign Language at the Universidad de Antonio Nebrija in Madrid. In the UK I have worked at The University of Manchester, The Open University and the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester/Leeds amongst other institutions.

Research interests
My scholarship focuses in the areas of Digital Literacies for Language learning, Developing Fluency in Language learning as well as effective methods of assessment.
I am one of the co-founding chief editors of the Language Scholar, an open access and peer-reviewed journal on language learning pedagogies based on the Centre for Excellence in Language Teaching, where I am an active member.
I am currently the lead for Widening Participation and Educational Engagement activities for the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies.
Since 2021, I am the Director of Routes into Languages Yorkshire and Humberside.
Current Projects:
I am one of the recipients of the Open Books funding award winners to create a book on Mastering Spanish Language as part of the Open Educational Practice of the University of Leeds. To be completed by December 2025.
I am part of the COIL project Lingua Connect, a project connecting language learnings at higher education institutions in Mexico, Brasil and England.
