In 2018 and 2019 I worked on a project in the Leeds University Library Special Collections to develop teaching and engagement with the University’s collection of over 20,000 coins, tokens, medals, and other numismatic objects.
Responsibilities
- Curatorial Adviser (Numismatics), Leeds University Library Special Collections
Research interests
I am interested broadly in the ways in which coinage can be used as a source of evidence in the study of history and have worked on a wide variety of coinages with this aim. My work as Co-Investigator of the recent AHRC/NEH funded OXUS-INDUS project has resulted in the creation of a new digital typology of Graeco-Bactrian and Indo-Greek coinages: BIGR.
I am a member of the Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum (SNG) and Sylloge Nummorum Parthicorum (SNP) projects for which I am working respecitvely on a volume of the Seleucid and ‘Eastern’ coins in the collection of the Hunterian Museum in Glasgow, and a major volume (SNP 1) on the early Parthian period. I am currently preparing an edited volume on Monetary Economies in the Hellenistic World with Marcus Chin and Leah Lazar.
