Profile
I am a Lecturer in Chinese Interpreting and Business Interpreting in the Centre for Translation, Interpreting & Localisation Studies (CTILS), School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at the University of Leeds.
Alongside my academic role, I have over ten years of experience as a conference interpreter working between Chinese and English. I have delivered interpreting services across China, the UK, Switzerland, Denmark, the US, Senegal, and other international contexts. This continued professional practice informs and enriches my teaching.
Prior to taking this position, I taught interpreting, translation and English in a university in Shanghai, China.
Research interests
My research has focused on the assessment of interpreting quality, the management of EVS (ear-voice-span) in simultaneous interpreting, interpreting in the metaverse, the interpreters’ roles as mediators, the employability of interpreters and AI and technology in interpreting, etc.
