Profile
I obtained my Master’s degree from the University of Glasgow in 2023, with a thesis examining power structures in political discourse from China and the United States, under the frame of Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL). During my undergraduate studies, I worked as a certified interpreter in China with experience in business translation and interpretation.
Research interests
I am interested in the interactions of identity and discourse, from a sociocultural perspective. As a member of ED Healer, the largest peer-support and volunteer organization for individuals with eating disorders in China, I have worked closely with EDs patients, caregivers, and professional therapists. My research focuses on the self-expression of patient communities, particularly, how their identities are constructed through various social semiotic resources.
Additionally, I have a strong interest in corpus linguistics and natural language processing (NLP), with a focus on building and using large-scale datasets, and identifying distinct features and shared characteristics of specific social groups.
