Profile

I am an Arabic broadcast interpreter, voice-over artist, and PhD researcher examining structural inequality, precarious work, and the effects of outsourcing in the UK’s public service interpreting sector. My interdisciplinary research draws on political philosophy, economics, and critical intersectionality to explore how systemic factors shape job quality and equality outcomes. My work aims to contribute to wider debates on labour rights, public service reform, and child poverty. My research is funded by the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities.

I have a strong background in Liberal Arts and approach my education from an interdisciplinary perspective. I completed my BA in Political Science at Grinnell College, USA, and my MA in International English Language Teaching at London Metropolitan University. I taught Arabic and conducted independent research in economics and human rights at Duke University, USA, through a Fulbright Programme. I have also undertaken various media training courses, including a comprehensive year-long journalism programme at the London College of Communication.

I have extensive professional experience across a range of roles, including broadcast interpreter, consultant, researcher, manager, and leadership trainer. My early career in teaching honed my communication skills and strengthened my ability to lead and inspire teams. Currently, I work as a freelance broadcast interpreter for major TV networks, contributing to coverage of multiple wars and major international events. I translate time-sensitive content, collaborating closely with news desks and field reporters to ensure accurate and timely communication. I also provide language and cultural consultancy to enhance the relevance and impact of broadcast content, assist in video production, and conduct thorough fact-checking and news monitoring to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the information shared with the public.

In 2017, I founded Lingua Media Connect Ltd, a translation company through which I oversee a wide range of projects, covering technical, scientific, media, legal, and political content.
