Bringing together practitioners and stakeholders of collaborative online international learning (COIL) in the UK and Ireland to share practice, network, and imagine COIL's future in both countries
Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) can contribute to fostering global citizenship and supporting Internationalisation at Home (IaH). Yet despite the benefits of COIL for students, academics, and institutions demonstrated in the literature, it has been noticeably underutilised in HE in the UK and Ireland.
Covering the basics of COIL and presenting case studies, this event will also take a deeper look at embedding evidence-informed approaches to COIL.
Featuring a keynote from Simone Hackett (Lecturer at The Hague University, PhD candidate at Utrecht University, and Chair of the EAIE Research Thematic Committee) and Mark Dawson entitled ‘Embedding evidence-informed COIL’, this event seeks to bring together practitioners, researchers and stakeholders of COIL in the UK and Ireland to share practice, network, and imagine the future of COIL in the UK and Ireland.
Seeking to ignite a community of practice to explore and face UK and Ireland-specific challenges and opportunities for COIL long into the future, it is hoped this symposium will mark the beginning of a journey into the unexplored potential for COIL in the UK and Ireland.
This symposium would be of interest for academics, professional service staff, and academics leaders; for people new to COIL, and those who want to take COIL to the next level.
Registration will be required on Eventbrite and lunch will be provided.
